Pretending the whole Holocaust thing didnt happen, its a cool flag. Sadly, its got a fairly negative connection, which ruins the socially acceptable aspect of the flag.

Also to be fair, the Iron Cross has been around since way before the nazis (1200's) and had been in the german army since the 1870's

Yes, and the Bundeswehr still uses a form of that cross today. However, it wasn't the most prominent cross on that ensign.
